Why this Conference?

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the scientific case for Darwinism as a complete explanation of origins is deeply flawed and that the arguments for design are becoming highly credible.  It is also apparent that the way in which we view ourselves and our place in the universe is profoundly affected by how we think about these matters.  This conference will get to the core of the scientific and philosophical issues involved. So, here’s a one-off opportunity to listen to and interact with two leading thinkers of our generation.  At the same time you can enjoy a fabulous conference centre with all en-suite rooms in the beautiful setting of the Malvern Hills, Worcestershire.  This brand new conference centre venue in West Malvern was opened in September 2009. The speakers

Prof. John Lennox is Professor of Mathematics at Oxford University, a Fellow in Mathematics and Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford University and acclaimed author of numerous titles including,  ‘God and Stephen Hawking: Whose Design is it anyway?’.   John has debated the issues of this conference with leading evolutionary theorists including Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Peter Singer.

Dr Doug Axe is the director of the Biologic Institute, Seattle USA.  After a Caltech PhD he held postdoctoral and research positions at the University of Cambridge, the Cambridge Medical Research Council Centre, and the Babraham Institute in Cambridge.  Doug's work has been reviewed in Nature and featured in a number of publications.

The main questions explored through the six conference presentations and workshops will be:

• How science is challenging Darwinism
• The beginnings of a new theory of biology
• Examining the critical questions further
• So what? Why does all this matter?

The speakers operate at the highest levels in their own academic work and have a gift for making their subjects relevant, interesting and intelligible for non-specialists.

It is for anyone who has a serious interest in understanding the current direction of origins science and its wider implications for individuals and society. It is not primarily aimed at academics, but at all those who interact with these issues in the course of their work, study or voluntary activities.

The conference programme will run from 5.30pm on Friday September 28th until 4.45pm on Saturday September 29th.

The full package, Friday and Saturday, with all meals, refreshments and accommodation is £119pp for twin or double accommodation, and £129 single.  All rooms are en-suite.

Alternatively for those wishing to book their own accommodation there is available a Full Conference - ex accommodation package at £89. This includes all meals and refreshments at the Conference Centre commencing with dinner at 5.30pm on Friday 28th through to the conclusion on Saturday afternoon.

We regret we cannot keep options open longer than 24 hours, such is the pressure on registrations.

If you plan to attend and use the own-accommodation option, then you may register for that as normal and do not need to apply for confirmation of a place being available.
